INTERVIEW – YANN GOBERT (ADVENTURER)

Photographer and graphic illustrator born and raised in Seine et Marne (60km from Paris); he always has a new adventure hiding in a corner of his head. For HOM, he went to the French Alps to shoot and to test the new collection. Here’s an interview with a true modern times adventurer.

ARE YOU MORE OF AN ADVENTURER OR A SEDENTARY GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATOR?

Ones doesn’t go without the other. My trips and the people I met along this journey, they feed my work and give me the will to start new projects. I love discovering things too, and this is the case both in images and travels.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE MISHAPS THAT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU’RE WEARING A BAD UNDERWEAR?

When I’m performing a stamina sport, like for instance an ultra-trail, any sewage can become a torment and eventually harm me. Once, I even gave up on a race after 50 km, I wasn’t too tired or injured, I was just burnt by the cloth of my shorts…

SO, WHAT ARE THE CRITERIONS FOR SOMEBODY THAT HAS ADHD, WHEN CHOOSING HIS UNDERWEAR?

It has to be breathing, and organic with flat sewage.

WHICH ONE DO YOU PREFER: BOXERS, TRUNKS OR PANTIES?

I would have to say boxers because it won’t rub as much, besides, I like the look modern and contemporary.

IF YOU HAD ONE INNOVATION TO ADD TO A PIECE OF UNDERWEAR OR CLOTHING FROM HOM, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

We could imagine a merino wool line, it is breathing and soft.

WHAT ARE YOUR NEXT CHALLENGES?

I have an autonomous 10 days trek in the Pyrénées, that goes through the mountains ridges, and there’s this 160km foot race that goes around Grenoble at the end of August. www.yanngobert.com
